9-0!!!!

Currently Listening to: Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus
Miley? What?! Have you heard it? It kinda rocks...
Current Mood: Positively buoyant and cheerful
Current Weather: Cold and DRY! The sun is starting to shine!!

The Iowa-Indiana game just ended. What a game. I may be (probably) going to Iowa State next fall, but I am a Hawkeye fan, this is Hawkeye country after all... Before this game, Iowa was ranked number 4 in the BCS poll (Bowl Championship Standings) and on a 12 game winning streak, 8 games being from this season. They are now 9-0 on a 13 game winning streak.

This was a pretty tense game. It almost looked as though Indiana was going to beat the Hawks, ruining their great season. However, in true Hawkeye fashion, they can from behind for a big 42-24 win. Things looked pretty bad in the third quarter. Quarterback Ricky Stanzi threw 4 interceptions (5 total in the game), which, if you know anything about football, you know is not a good thing for the home team. Stanzi did managed to redeem himself though. he threw 2 touchdown passes in a row in the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter was a great quarter for the Hawks. They scored 27 of their 42 points in this quarter.

It wasn't looking very good for the Hawkeyes at the end of the third. 4 interceptions will do that to a team's moral. It seems that the Hawkeyes work best under pressure though. Look at the game lat week against Michigan State. The Hawkeyes were down after a late touchdown by Michigan and ended up scoring with 2 seconds left on the clock to win it. This is what Iowa does. They play a good first 3 quarters and seem to come alive in the fourth. This is a good team that is playing well this season. Is that a bowl game I see in their future?...Keep up the good work, and congrats guys!!

Vampire Diaries and Supernatural

Twilight and New Moon soundtracks
Current Mood: Super tired

I have been watching The Vampire Diaries on the CW since it first premiered in September. I was seeing ads for the show before it aired and knew that the show was going to be inspired by the books by L.J. Smith. I decided to read the books before the show came on so that I would have an idea as to what was going on. I read the first 4 books that make up the main Vampire Diaries series: The Awakening, The Struggle, The Fury, and Dark Reunion. I have not yet read the new trilogy, The Vampire Diaries The Return: Nightfall, Shadow Souls, and Midnight. The last two not yet published yet. I really liked the first 4 books, but just never got around to reading the other. While the TV show is based on the books, there are some big differences. Don't get me wrong, I like the show for what it is, it just doesn't always follow the books. I guess the creates are allowed to do that though.

Some of the differences so far are: In the books Elena, the main-ish character was blonde. That was a huge part of the books actually. Damon doesn't call his brother by his name, which is Stefan, until the fourth book. It's always "Brother." Elena has a little sister, Margaret who is like 3 not a teen-aged brother, Jeremy . Elena's aunt is a bit older and engaged. Vicki does not become a vampire. Caroline and Elena aren't that close. Elena has two best friends Bonnie, who is in the show and Meredith, who is not on the show. Some names are different, which isn't a huge deal. And that's about all I can think of right now.

So, last nights episode, Haunted, was pretty good. It's Halloween in Mystic Falls and Vampire Vicki is growing restless. According to Elena she is "A vampire with issues." Things take a turn for the worst when Vicki and Jeremy sneak off to make out. Vicki is super hungry and tries to bit Jeremy. Elena find them and Vicki goes after her. She bites her and it drinking her blood when Stefan comes up behind her and steaks her and she dies. That's just the cliff notes version. If you want to get the whole story, watch the episode. You might be lost so why not just catch up on the whole season. I'll add the link to The Vampire Diaries page on the CW website at the bottom. The goings-on in this episode have definitely cause quite a bit of drama for the people 0f Mystic Falls. I cannot wait to see what happens as the season goes on.

The Vampire Diaries

I have loved Supernatural (airing on the CW as well) since it first came on. I have seen every episode in the shows 5 seasons. I'm not really a horror/scary movie fan, but this show is awesome. The actors being easy on the eyes certainly does not hurt...Dean and Sam Winchester travel the country hunting bad/evil things and generally kicking ass. These guys rock. The relationship between them is pretty Strong too. When things get bad, they have each other to rely on. When they occasionally fight and go their separate ways for awhile, they always find a way back together. Part of what makes this show so good is the relationship between Dean and Sam. I honestly do not think the show would be as good if it were two friends instead of two brothers.

There have been different plot lines in the different seasons. This season, the brothers are trying to stop the Apocalypse. Sam kind of accidentally started the Apocalypse when he killed a demon which broke the last of 66 seals, freeing Lucifer. Last nights episode, The Curious Case of Dean Winchester, didn't really revolve around that plot though. It was about a poker playing witch, Patrick, who plays for years instead of money. Dean loses his game and becomes an old man. They try to reverse the magic but can't Dean almost dies. We think he does, until he walks outside his young, normal self. Sam won a game against Patrick, winning all of Dean's years back. (Again, this is the cliff notes version, check the show out for more.) It got pretty tense there for a while. I wasn't sure if Sam would win and Dean would live. It would have been so sad. No more Supernatural, you could not have the show with only one Winchester Brother.

Supernatural

I know this is quite a bit of words and junk on my part. What can I say, I like to/am good at rambling. I'm even more beat now. Good night have a wonderful Halloween!

Discoveries...

Currently Listening to: Rob Thomas
Current Mood: Happy
Current Weather: Rainy, Damp and Cold

There are so many web sites out there. I have decided to come up with a few that I have discovered, or that others have lead me to, and a few that I just happen to like.

-Post Secret--Frank, the guy behind this site and the books that go along with the site, is a genius. People who have a secret to share send a postcard to Frank. He takes those secrets and puts them on the site or in a book. There are several Post Secret books out now. The newest, Confessions on Life, death, and God, just came out recently. I love Post Secret. A person would be surprised to see that someone elses secret is their secret too.

-Fresh Pics--This is a Blog Spot site that is pretty cool. There are a bunch of random pictures on here. There are posts with pictures of celebrities then and now, Russian wedding cakes, awesome icebergs, and more. I was just recently introduced to this site.

-Stumble Upon--This is another site that I have recently been introduced to by my News Writing teacher. What this is is a web site that will take you to a random web site with a certain theme. There are many different themes you can choose from. You can find a new favorite web site from by "Stumbling Upon" something.

-
MADATOMS--This is a site that I found through Stumble Upon. I'm not really sure how to describe it. It is a bunch of random lists, posts, and comics. I like it, you might too.

-
Funny Shit--This is another site that I found on Stumble Upon. It has a bunch of jokes, emails, pictures, and other funny stuff. Some of it is pretty hilarious.

-
Drowning Fish--This is a bad web site. I was looking for an Angels and Airwaves song and ended up downloading Lonely Hearts by Drowning Fish. I loved the song. I had never heard of Drowning Fish so I decided Google the band to see if they had any more songs or a CD. I found this site. I sent away for the CD and received it a few weeks later. I really like this band. Their sound is different, I haven't heard anything quite like their stuff before.

-
IMDB--The Internet Movie Database. This may not be an unknown site, but I love it non the less. IMDB is a great place to find movie trivia, quotes, and complete actor lists. I use this web site all the time.

-
Em's Bookshelf--This is another web site that I have recently found. It is a blog where the author reviews books. I am an avid reader and Em reviews book that I read. Something else good about this blog is on the side, there are a bunch of other book blogs.

-
Last.Fm--Last FM is a great music site. You can put all of your favorite music into your library and it will all be there when ever, where ever you want. You can add individual songs or the whole artist. I have discovered several new artists from this site.

Well, I'm sure I could go on and on, but I'll stop here. Sometimes you can find awesome stuff without even trying. I know I did. So, go out there and Stumble Upon something awesome.

Hi and Greek!!

Currently Listening to: Drowning Fish
Current mood: Content
Current weather: Cold and cloudy

Hi! I'm Emily and I am new to this blogging thing. I'm not gonna have a "theme" for my blog. It will basically be about whatever comes to mind when I sit to write such as television, books, movies, and life in general. Today, what comes to mind is last night's episode of Greek on ABC family. I absolutely love this show and last night's episode did not disappoint. I am a huge Cappie-Casey supporter. They belong together. Last night, they finally got back together!! Cappie is the perfect goofy guy who knows how to be serious when he needs to be. Casey is a pretty serious person who knows how to have fun with the time calls for it. They have fairly opposite personalities. But they are perfect for each other and it took them look enough to realize it and come to their senses. Well Casey has know for awhile that she wanted to be with Cappie, but Cappie took a bit longer to realize it. The episodes leading up to this moment have been great. There has been so much tension and dancing around for these two. I bet everyone watching, who are Cappie-Casey fans, breathed a huge sigh of elation when they kissed on the stairs of the ZBZ house, I know I sure did. Who wouldn't want to date Cappie? He is hilarious, knows about all sorts of things-he has had so many different majors and he's smart he just doesn't always show it, he knows how to throw a kick ass party, his awesome hair...the list goes on. And lets not over look the actor who plays Cappie. I mean come on, have you seen Scott Michael Foster?? Boy's got a real nice head of hair and pretty blue eyes. What's not to like?

If you have never seen Greek, I suggest you do. It is truly an awesome show. There is something for everyone; drama, comedy, romance, relationships, Greek life, and decent looking actors. I have been watching this show since it first premiered on ABC family and I love it. I never miss an episode. I do not take part in Greek life, but this show makes me want to. There is this stereotype that Greek life is bad and will make you a huge partier. This show shows that side and more to Greek life. There is more to it than great parties and getting drunk. These are real characters with real problems that any one could relate to. The KT brothers are super funny. I laugh so hard during their scenes. I laugh during the whole show, but especially during their scenes. Some of the goings-on at the KT house are just too good. The KT brothers- Cappie, The Beaver, Heath, Wade, Ben Bennett, and the rest- are pretty much my favorite. Actually, I can't really say that. I love most all of the characters. The KTs are just hilarious. I would have to say one of the few characters I didn't like is Frannie, who is no longer with the show. She just annoyed the crap outta me. Seriously, check this show out. There is an all new episode Monday at 8/7c on ABC family. It will be the last episode of the season. Old episodes can be watched online on the ABC family website. Check it out. You won't be disappointed. I am going to include the link to the Greek page on ABC family.
